DSPA Homepage (Excellence, Trust, Insight)

DSPA is a sign language interpreter matching service specializing in providing ongoing support for high-tech professionals.

Building Partnerships & Facilitating Communication

Deaf Services of Palo Alto (DSPA) is a sign language interpreter matching service based in Silicon Valley. Our Mission is to custom-match interpreters who excel at interpreting for high-tech communication with corporate clients seeking this expertise.

In 1990, professional ASL/English interpreter Janet Lewis saw a gap in the interpreting services market. While there is specific credentialing for legal and medical interpreting, there were no credentials to identify interpreters qualified to work in high-tech fields. Janet formed a team of interpreters with these skills and saw demand for these interpreters increase. This focus allows DSPA to have greater agility, responsiveness, and dedication to the particular needs of the high-tech community.

Clients have found maintaining a team of dedicated interpreters throughout the work week (not just for important meetings) offers significant benefits. We have expanded to serve the growing number of companies that value the ongoing support we provide. We now have a network of 400+ interpreters and provide services across the United States and in more than 18 countries around the world.

Our Products & Services

By matching interpreters who specialize in the specific technical fields our clients work in, we are able to alleviate the challenges that complex vocabularies, field-specific terminology, and differing workplace cultures can present. We also have the expertise to plan the interpreting needs for conferences, interviews, and user experience studies. On request, we teach sign language classes, which foster a more welcoming atmosphere.

By working to eliminate communication barriers, DSPA ensures Deaf professionals can focus on their job, contribute to their team, and reach their professional goals. If you’re interested in working with us, we would be happy to talk with you. Please contact us at office@dspa.org.

We look forward to working with you!
